Ok, there really only are a few varieties of beans that make me go WOW. Velour takes the cake. Strong, stocky plants stay upright so the pods don't touch the ground, and when they mature, the plants are literally COVERED in beautiful PERFECTLY STRAIGHT 4-5" gorgeous purple pods. Thin, tender pods are best when fresh or very lightly steamed. ( purple color fades when cooked) Withstood a 2 month drought very well.  Velour beats all the other purple varieties out there and most of the green ones, too. Expect 2-3 heavy pickings before they're done.
