- Brussels Sprouts
I like Brussels’ Sprouts. They’re not as difficult to grow as one may think. Roodnerf is a great early variety, with plump green sprouts all up and down the stalk. Plant them early, give them a little room and nice rich soil. Then wait until the cool fall and a frost. Each plant will produce at least 30-40 good sized sprouts. They can be left on the stem and the whole plant pulled up and stored in the root cellar for many weeks, or they can be blanched and frozen. In the fall I will be posting a number of recipes for these succulent baby cabbages!
