These are really easy to grow. I planted them on the edge of the field and let the rambling vines sprawl out into the weeds and they did just fine. I basically planted and forgot about them and in the fall when I went to check, there were bushels and bushels of gourds everywhere. Pile them up outside to let them dry and cure, and when they are hard and brown they can be sanded and painted or stained, and cut with a fine saw or cutting wheel. The shape of calabash is basically round, about 12” across, so they make excellent bowls.
