starting your own tomatoes in pots in the house is easy with our Facebook Tutorial
Included in this awesome bundle of Heirloom Organically grown tomato seeds is:
RED ZEBRA Bold looks on this tomato make it my 'mascot'. Dark red with lighter stripes on these 2" fruits are beautiful, with that good old fashioned red tomato taste. Begins bearing a bit later than most, about 80 days from transplant. The strong plants need a trellis.
SUGARPLUM There really is no other red cherry tomato that even comes close. 10-20 'grape' tomatoes on each long cluster are so full of sugar and flavor you'll eat yourself silly on them! My kids call them candy tomatoes. They start bearing later than average, and the vines are huge so trellis or cage them. Easy to pick a whole cluster at a time, with perfect skin and flesh-they pop and squirt in the mouth but tough enough to handle without squashing them.
NORTHERN SUN Also known as Yellow Taxi. I have been growing yellow Northern Sun for 16 years. Heavy production of beautiful lemon yellow fruits about 2" across, and very early, too. The short plants are just great big piles of lovely tomatoes. About 65 days from transplant. No need to trellis, just let them sprawl over mulch. I have been selecting seeds from only disease free fruits. Ah, yes, and they make the most lovely lemon yellow tomato jam.
GREEN ZEBRA You may have grown these before but this strain is the best I have tried. I saved seeds from only extra-stripey fruits, with creamy smooth mildly sweet flesh of a perfect lime green. The 3" fruits are born in beautiful clusters of 4-6 each that ripen almost all all together, so perfect for market growers and farmers markets. And the production was incredible! we just keep picking and picking and picking until the frost killed them! the plants could use a cage or trellis.
RUTGER'S RED This is the classic American red tomato. The kind you slice up for a burger or BLT. Tons of flavor, with a little extra sweetness thrown in, wonderful melt-in-the-mouth flesh, in just the right size for slicing. I love how they grow in clusters, with no green shoulders or scabbing, all perfectly round, and no cracking. Very beautiful tomato with great production. The plants are semi-bush so you can either let them sprawl over mulch or give them a cage. This variety has been around for nearly a hundred years!
